Zürcher Konkreten” , gli artisti concreti di Zurigo o più semplicemente l’Arte Concreta svizzera è un movimento artistico sviluppatosi nella seconda metà del 900’, associata alla corrente dell’astrazione geometrica e che si sviluppa in particolare a Zurigo come naturale continuazione della Bauhaus tedesca. Per lo storico dell’arte Hans A. Lüthy, la “scuola dei concreti di Zurigo” di cui fanno parte Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse, Camille Graeser e Verena Loewensberg, rappresenta senza dubbio il contributo più importante della Svizzera all’arte del XX secolo. L’estetica dell’arte concreta, sobria, pulita e razionale dell’astrazione geometrica rappresenta perfettamente il carattere svizzero.
La qualità e la precisione nell’esecuzione sono caratteristiche fondamentali dell’arte concreta. Gli artisti dell’astrattismo concreto furono spesso attivi nel campo del design e delle arti applicate.

One of South Africa’s most renowned artists, Esther Mahlangu paints vibrant geometric works based on traditional Ndebele designs.
