For art historian Hans A. Lüthy, the "Zurich School of Concretists," which includes Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse, Camille Graeser, and Verena Loewensberg, is undoubtedly Switzerland's most important contribution to 20th-century art. The concrete, sober, clean and rational art aesthetic of geometric abstraction perfectly represents the Swiss character. Quality and precision in execution are fundamental characteristics of concrete art. Concrete abstractionism artists were often active in the field of design and applied arts.
