About the Item

Jan Kaláb – Protein P Signed and Numbered Giclée Print Edition 157 of 165 Sold Out – Mint Condition Offered here is Protein P, a vibrant and dynamic giclée print by Czech artist Jan Kaláb, presented in mint condition. This limited edition artwork was released in an edition of only 165 and is hand-signed and numbered by the artist on the front. Printed on fine art paper and measuring 50 x 50 cm, Protein P is a striking example of Kaláb’s evolution from graffiti innovator to abstract visual artist. Kaláb’s career spans over two decades and reflects an ongoing exploration of color, geometry, and movement. Originally known by his graffiti alias “Cakes,” Kaláb was one of the first artists from Czechoslovakia to gain recognition on the international graffiti scene, famously painting whole subway cars in New York in the early 2000s. He later adopted the moniker “Point” to develop pioneering 3D graffiti installations, merging sculptural expression with street culture. Today, Kaláb works under his real name, continuing to push the boundaries of form through vibrant abstract compositions that blur the line between painting and sculpture. His work, including Protein P, captures a kinetic sense of energy, referencing both his graffiti heritage and a refined, formalist sensibility. Kaláb has exhibited globally and collaborated with institutions such as Urban Nation (Berlin) on its Project M/9, and his pieces are held in contemporary collections throughout Europe and beyond. Protein P exemplifies the artist’s signature use of bold color palettes and fluid, layered forms—an elegant and energetic tribute to his past.
