About the Item

Kenny Scharf Bluester, 2023 15-colour screen print on Mohawk Superfine UltraWhite, 160 lb cover paper. Signed by the artist, numbered and stamped by the publishers, JRP Editions. 61 cm diameter Edition of 99 "Bluester" is a vibrant screenprint by American artist Kenny Scharf, created in 2023. This circular, or tondo, print measures 61 cm (24 inches) in diameter and showcases Scharf's signature blend of pop culture and surrealism. This work continues Scharf's exploration of tondo formats, a practice he began in the 1980s and revisited in recent years for exhibitions like "MOODZ" at Jeffrey Deitch in Los Angeles. Kenny Scharf’s prints are a vibrant extension of his eclectic and playful artistic vision, blending pop culture, surrealism, and street art influences. Known for his whimsical, cartoon-like characters and kaleidoscopic use of colour, Scharf’s prints capture the energy and optimism that define his larger body of work. Often featuring fantastical creatures, cosmic landscapes, and elements of nostalgia, his pieces evoke a sense of wonder while subtly addressing themes like consumerism, environmentalism, and the human condition. Scharf employs techniques such as screenprinting and lithography to bring his dynamic imagery to life, ensuring that his prints retain the boldness and immediacy of his original works. Accessible and highly collectable, Kenny Scharf’s prints embody his mission to make art joyful and engaging for a wide audience.
