About

Artist: Larry Rivers (1923-2002) Title: Dutch Masters Year: Unknown Medium: Lithograph and silkscreen on wove paper Edition: 500, plus proofs Size: 25 x 31.5 inches Condition: Excellent Inscription: Signed and numbered by the artist. Notes: Published by American Images. LARRY RIVERS (1923-2002) Painter and sculptor Larry Rivers became one of the first artists to explore the figurative style which follows abstract expressionism. While Rivers's style strikes a balance between abstract expressionism and realistic renderings, his free painterly brushwork and tightly drawn images float ambiguously in space with blurred images and smears. These blurred, smudgy images were not accidental, but part of a deliberate process. His landscapes, portraits and figure studies are considered reactionary by contemporary critics because of their realistic composition. ABOUT SELLER DO YOU HAVE ARTWORK TO SELL?
