"CYCLOPS", print, hand-tooled aluminum intaglio, abstract, monotype, framed
Located in Toronto, Ontario
CYCLOPS is a hand-tooled aluminum intaglio print on Rives BFK 250g paper with deckle edge. It is a framed monotype in black matte wood with spacers under glass to maintain the deckle edge of paper. The print floats on museum board using archival Hayaku Japanese Hinging Paper. Like Wortsman's sculptures, the abstract components here seem to possess both organic and geometric forms. Note the four corners of black, bracing the center serpentine shape of copper and black speckled white – it is characteristic of Wortsman's practice. Warm, contemporary, uniquely crafted, yet speaks to ancient, tribal traditions of art-making that cross cultures and histories. Highly attuned to the indigenous art of Africa, the Middle East, India and Asia, his forms are organic and geometric abstracts with masculine and feminine attributes that resonate together as a pleasing enigma. They make sense immediately, yet never give up all their secrets. CYCLOPS was exhibited at Harold Wortsman...

Truth - the honesty seed, Print on Glass, hand gilded with Lemon and Moon Gold
Located in London, GB
Truth, 2017 Print on Museum Glass, Hand gilded with Lemon and Moon Gold 31 x 31 cm/ 12.2 x 12.2 in (custom framed) Edition of 5 This print is from a series of images made from a collection of honesty seeds gathered at the end of baking hot summer... The papery enclosures are like parchment through which the light filters with a pale gold delicacy." The beauty of the pieces printed on glass are truly revealed when seen in the flesh, which shimmer in the daylight and change constantly as different light sources are reflected off the print. "My fascination with colour goes back a long way. One of my earliest creative recollections has me sitting at a table endlessly mixing paints in a valiant but ultimately futile attempt to 'invent a new colour'. It was an imperative that kept me occupied for some time as I recall. The result was always the same - and unedifying fudge of pale peach and silver." - Valda Bailey...

Seascape I - large format photograph of blue tone horizon and sea

large scale photograph capturing the soothing tones of nature's calming blue hour color palette Seascape I by Frank Schott 48 x 64 inches / 122cm x 162cm signed edition of 7 30 x 40 inches / 76cm x 102cm signed edition of 25 archival fine art pigment print signed & numbered by artist on certificate label ------------------------- Frank Schott grew up in Germany and attended the prestigious Academy of Arts in Cologne, studying under Professor Arno Jansen, who was an early influence. Moving to California in 1998, Schott's work has evolved to include the epic landscapes and deserts of the American West as well as architectural, conceptual and more formal environments from both home and his travels. Influenced by a number of photographic peers and precursors such as Candida Höfer, Andreas Gursky, Thomas Struth, Jeff Wall, Hiroshi Sugimoto, William Eggleston and Joel Sternfeld, Schott's images successfully blend technical, conceptual and formal rigor with a decisive sense of composition and color. Schott's images have an iconic sensibility and give us a bird's eye view onto humanity and its constructs. The specific is edged towards the abstract, often revealing the compelling and disjunctive moment where nature meets man. Frank Schott was born in Cologne, Germany in 1962. He currently lives and works in San Francisco. _________________________ Edition EKTAlux publishes an evolving curated selection of collectable large-scale photography in strictly limited editions, working closely with each artist to guarantee state-of-the-art museum level print and framing quality. Douglas Semivan Print "Abstract in Gold and Black"
Located in Detroit, MI
"Abstract in Gold and Black" is a well-balanced calm piece. The placement of the gold and white can be read as a distant landscape giving much imagined space to the heavier black area which contains a linear element and the color blue. Semivan is a Master Printmaker and sculptor. He often breaks his surfaces and extends beyond the perimeters in his sculptures. The particular placement of the black area in this piece suggests such a breakage beyond the edge where one imagines a continuation of the strokes or linear elements. This is an altogether extraordinary print. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Douglas Semivan...

"PALACE AT MIDNIGHT", print, hand-tooled aluminum intaglio, abstract, framed, AP
Located in Toronto, Ontario
PALACE AT MIDNIGHT, a hand-tooled aluminum intaglio print on Rives BFK 250g paper with deckle edge. It is a framed artist's proof, in white matte wood with spacers under glass to maintain the deckle edge of paper. The print floats on museum board using archival Hayaku Japanese Hinging Paper. The title actually plays off Giacometti's great surrealist sculpture called "The Palace at 4AM" – and like Wortsman's own sculptures, the abstract components here seem to possess an architecture. Note the black block with luminous blue flecks, the purple plinth and orange strips cutting in – it is characteristic of Wortsman's practice.
