About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Clines Corners” is a 8 x 8 inch unique mixed media abstract landscape represented on 12 x 12 inch drafting film combining ink and pastel with digital printmaking and creative photography. A screen of fragmented clouds in sepia and grey are inkjet printed onto a field of light blue pastel and block printing ink. A bold pop of orange pastel defines the depiction of the iconic New Mexico truck stop “Clines Corners” on the bottom left of this distinctive piece. An image of a blue lawn chair adds whimsy to the piece as it appears to hover over the parking lot. These graphic elements are a welcome contrast to the delicate blend of grey, yellow, and green pastel that has been layered within the fragmented pictorial image. The variety of media combined with the layers of inkjet create unexpected shapes and tones as well as surprising compositions.
Skillfully integrating the recognizable with the abstract, deGrandpre uses photographs and imagery that she digital manipulates. Her extensive catalog of digital images becomes the catalyst of her art making. Her inkjet printer becomes her press as she combines digital inkjet printing with other materials and media. deGrandpre’s one of a kind piece is signed and dated on the bottom right corner of the media and will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice. Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
