About the Item
Peter Phillips (British, b. 1939)
Untitled, from the Pneumatic Series
Screenprint, 1968
Signed, inscribed and dated Peter Phillips, Printers Proof (lower right)
Including frame: 27 1/8 x 40 1/2 in. (79 x 102.8 cm.)
A dynamic screenprint from Peter Phillips’s acclaimed Pneumatic Series, produced during the late 1960s when the artist was at the forefront of the British Pop Art movement. The work demonstrates Phillips’s distinctive graphic style, combining sharp mechanical precision with bold colour and layered imagery that reflect the energy and consumerist culture of the era.
This example is a Printers Proof, personally signed, dated, and inscribed by the artist, making it a rare and desirable piece outside of the numbered edition. The work is float-mounted on a white ground, displayed behind glass, and set within a painted wooden frame. Condition is very good, with both print and frame well preserved.
Together with contemporaries such as David Hockney, Allen Jones, and Patrick Caulfield, Phillips helped define the visual language of British Pop Art. This print is an excellent opportunity to acquire a significant work from one of the movement’s leading figures.
