She received an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute in 1995 and has since received many awards, including Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation Award. She has been living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1993.

Rosalyn Richards has been a member of the Bucknell University art faculty since 1982. Images from particle physics, satellite photography, biotechnology, radiology, geological survey maps, have all served as influences on Richards' work. Her paintings, prints, and drawings relate to the human need to construct our experiences in nature using systems of design and technology. The maps become metaphors for inner journeys, and are also meant to suggest playful and whimsical approaches to the usually serious function of diagrams.
She has had solo shows throughout the United States, and her work is represented in museum collections such as:
