In this lithograph, Serge Poliakoff's chromatic choices echo the spiritual and artistic traditions that have profoundly influenced his career. The wine-red hue recalls the sacred hues of Orthodox icons, symbolizing the sacred and transcendent. This vibrant, almost mystical red evokes ancient frescoes where color carried as much meaning as the image itself, acting as a mediator between the visible and the invisible.
