This lithograph is one of four produced by Serge Poliakoff in 1963, printed in St. Gallen at the Erker-Presse studio. Its small format in no way detracts from the power of the tension between the solid black and red colors. The artist's own dynamic construction of space balances the raw composition with the play of transparency and texture in the colors.
