TANYA This hand crafted Giclee print on canvas, 'Tanya', by Vasily Golubev, provides the opportunity to own and enjoy a Golubev masterpiece at a very affordable price. Produced to the exact size of the original painting and beautifully textured with a clear gesso finish following Golubev’s distinctive brushwork, this reproduction was exclusively authorized by the artists' estate and is currently available only on 1stDibs. "Golubev is precise and selective in his choice of the natural situation in relationship to the figure. In 'Portrait of Tanya' he integrates the figure into a swirling palette of color and texture, organically placing the subject within spatial context. If the first function of the figure is architectural, the second is to warm and humanize the image." - Dr. Alexander Borovsky, Head of Contemporary Art - State Russian Museum From 1995 until 2014 when Russia invaded Crimea (at which time cultural exchange largely came to an end) the Pushkin Gallery collected exceptional works from the period of postwar Soviet Union. The bright colours contrast the stark black background to create an impactful piece. Originally from Liverpool, Griffiths graduated from the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Maidstone in 1995. After completing a one-year KIAD fellowship and moving to London he served an apprenticeship at the longest-established gold wire embroidery firm in the world. Here he worked as a gold wire embroidery designer for twelve years, eventually becoming the creative director. Carne produced intricate designs for the military and the film, theatre, fashion and advertising industries. His designs were used for the uniforms in the films Valkyrie, The Last King of Scotland...
