About the Item

Published by Plura Editions, IT. 9-color silkscreen print on cardboard 69 × 69 cm Edition of 500 Ex. 148/500 Signed and numbered in pencil on the front. "Zürcher Konkreten" , the Concrete Artists of Zurich or more simply Swiss Concrete Art is an art movement that developed in the second half of the 20th century', associated with the current of geometric abstraction and developing particularly in Zurich as a natural continuation of the German Bauhaus. For art historian Hans A. Lüthy, the "Zurich School of Concretists," which includes Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse, Camille Graeser, and Verena Loewensberg, is undoubtedly Switzerland's most important contribution to 20th-century art. The concrete, sober, clean and rational art aesthetic of geometric abstraction perfectly represents the Swiss character. Quality and precision in execution are fundamental characteristics of concrete art. Concrete abstractionism artists were often active in the field of design and applied arts. The works of the Swiss Concrete Art group are in the collections of some of the most important museums in the world.

Two years later, she was the first woman and the first African artist to be commissioned to paint a BMW Art Car...
