About the Item

Lionne à l'affût is a wonderful etching on cream-colored laid paper, realized in 1900 by Evert Van Muyden (1853-1922). Signed and dated on plate on the lower left margin, this beautiful modern plate was printed by I. Fort and published by the French review "Revue de l'Art ancien et moderne". The lioness is perched and is portrayed a moment before the decisive shooting of hunting with particular attention to details and textures. In very good conditions. Evert Louis van Muyden (1853-1922) was a noted engraver, illustrator and painter who had been working in Paris for many years, following the style of Corot for landscapes and that of Barye for animals. He became mainly famous for these last ones, and particularly for his representations of felins.
