About the Item

Abraham Ajay (also known as Abe Ajay or even 'Ajay') was from a Syrian Pennsylvanian family who came to New York City. He attended the Art Students League and the American Artists School and was on the WPA. Later in his career he moved on to box-like constructions and taught at the State University, Purchase, NY. This lithograph, Peggy, was made of the WPA-New York City (with an old label on the reverse). There's an impression in the New York Public Library. Their reference number is NYPL - L18. It is signed and dated in pencil.
