About the Item
Andree Ruellan, with her husband, John Taylor, were greatly admired members of the Art Students League and Woodstock, NY, communities. Further, it was Ruellan who had a studio in Paris. Her generous loans enabled many artist friends to spend time in France.
Side Show is a classic Ruellan slice-of-life image. The 'star' is somewhat bedraggled but the crowd is enthusiastic and every hat and face is individualized.
This lithograph was published by the American Artists Group. Their stamp is on the reverse of the print and their label is on the reverse of the mat. The point was that it is both unsigned and unlimited in edition size and therefore very reasonable priced. The original price is usually listed as $2.75 for each impression.
There is a trace of a signature in the lower left of the image -- in the stone.
