Figure is an original etching artwork on paper, realized by Antonietta Mafai in 1972.
Hand-signed on the lower center, dated "Roma 72" on the lower right in pencil.
The status of preservation very good.

The artwork represents a girl dancing figure, in dynamic expression. The artwork is depicted skillfully through confident and strong strokes with a harmonious and congruous color of the background and the figure. Antonietta Raphael Mafai was born in Lituania in 1895. In 1924, she moved to Rome, where she became one of the most important exponents of the Roman School, and where she met Mario Mafai, who was to become her husband. In her artistic career, she distinguished herself for her adherence to an anti-academic conception about artistic production. She can be considered the real precursor of Transavantgarde art.
