Hand signed and numbered. Edition of 50 prints. Reference: Catalogue Battisti n.43. Armando Buratti (Rome, 1924), is an italian artist and painter. His works are now part of private collections in Italy and abroad, and exposed for example in the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna and in the Musei Capitolini in Rome. The Romanum Forum is the rectangular forum in which ruins of important ancient government buildings of the ancient Rome were located. The forum, a kind of plaza, was the centre of Roman public and political life. Forum today is a wonderful ruin of architectural fragments and intermittent archaeological excavations, that attracts 4.5 million sightseers every year.

"Rovina della gran Basilica di S. Paolo fueri le mura accaduta" (View of the Ruins of the Great Triumphal Arch of S. Paolo Fuori le Mura) from "Le Antichita Romane" (Ancient Rome), published in Rome in 1823. It depicts the destruction of the Basilica of St. Paul after the fire of 1823. People stand in the road and on the right observing the damage amid debris, which includes many fragments of columns.
