Cynthia Segato
Il Gran Teatro dei burattini - Engraving by Cynthia Segato - 2000s

2000

About the Item

Engraving made on zinc plate on Sicar paper 310 gr/m2, paper size 50cm x 70cm, work size 33cm x 48cm. Excellent condition, no defects. Cynthia Segato was born in Rome in 1958. She graduated in Astronomy and attended the Scuola Libera del Nudo of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Alongside her painting activity, she deepened her interest in graphics by attending various engraving workshops including those at the Calcografia Nazionale. In her works, Segato uses an imaginary and fairy-tale language, proposing figurative themes through a symbolism that includes the concepts of time and space. The interest and study of mathematical and astronomical sciences enter the atmospheres she represents, where cosmic objects, constellations, fantastic geometries and non-Euclidean spaces coexist with research on Platonic solids, the formation of matter and stellar dust. The interest in children's illustration brings her research closer to the interpretation of ancient nursery rhymes and the composition of new ones. In the early 2000s, she began collaborating with the art gallery Edarcom Europa, which curates and hosts the most important solo exhibitions of recent years. For the editions of the Edarcom Europa gallery, she creates over twenty lithographs and engravings inspired above all by the themes of Giacomo Leopardi's poetry and the fairy tales of Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland. Cynthia Segato lives and works in Rome.

Adolescence - Original Etching ad Drypoint by A. Doré - Late 1900
By Amandine Doré
Located in Roma, IT
Adolescence is a beautiful drypoint realized by the French painter, illustrator, and writer Amandine Doré in the second half of the 20th century. The state of preservation is excellent and the image, sensual and pleasant, describes a young nude woman kneeling in a meadow, surrounded by flowers and butterflies. This is an artist’s proof. On the higher left, there are some indications written in pencil for the print: “157 imprimes / 27 imprimes / + 2 sans numerò”. On the higher right, still in pencil, “Modéle 75 épreuves” is written. Amandine Doré (Paris, 1912-2011) is one of the pseudonyms of Odette Amandine Bonne, who signed also as “Aurèa” or “Madame”, according to the type of subject matter of her artworks. Amandine was a French painter, illustrator, and writer. Her production varied from erotic to travel illustrations...

Food & Weather Gauge (1/40)
Located in Nashville, TN
Artwork Size: 12 x 19 in Edition 1 of 40 "Flood and Weather Gauge" is a multi-colored print from hand-carved engravings, matted and framed, by Ke Francis. As a writer as well as a visual artist, many of Francis' artworks have a literary aspect to them, whether it is pure illustration or an implied narrative. "Flood and Weather Gauge" was created as a purely visual image without any accompanying text. However, Francis creates an implied narrative within the piece through the relationship and dialogue between the overwhelmed homemade weather gauge and the intensifying weather conditions of the flood. Over ten years after the original work's creation, a version of Flood and Weather Gauge accompanied Michael Hannon...
