Francisco Goya
Tal Para Qual - Etching by Francisco Goya - 1868

1868

About the Item

Tal para Qual is an original artwork realized by the Spanish artist Francisco Goya and published for the first time in 1799. Original etching on paper. The plate is part of the Third Edition of "Los Caprichos" that was published in 1868 by the Calcografia Nacional for the Real Academia. Full edition includes 80 original plates. Plate N. 5. Numbered on the upper corner. Titled on the lower central margin "Tal para Qual" (One is good as another). Mint conditions. Both the figures in elegant dresses pose in vacuous attitudes. It is a strong print against the feminine and masculine standardization: the damsel spends his hours in preening, like the flirtatious, and are linked to temporary fashions. On the background two old woman talking and smiling about the scene.
