About the Item

Color lithograph, on Magnani-Pescia paper. Paper size 35cmx25cm, work size 24cmx17cm. Excellent condition, no defects. Born in Rome in 1946, Franco Fortunato is an autodidact, following a scientifically oriented study path. His artistic training takes shape with the study of Italian painting of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, such as the Flemish. It continues, again in the nineties, with the Invisible Cities, a cycle dedicated to a reading of Italo Calvino, and then with the Ritrovamenti and the Città ritrovate. Temporally and thematically underlying always remains the figure of the Vagabond, a poetic figure that runs almost uninterruptedly through Fortunato's entire artistic career. A character who appears in 1980 and lives his existence wearing various guises and experiencing the most diverse problems. His work also develops in the field of graphics, sculpture and ceramics.
