About the Item
This set of playful yet explicit pochoir plates was printed after original watercolors that were produced to accompany a serious of equally sexually graphic sonnets by the well-known erotic French poet Louis Perceau. Focusing mainly on a lesbian theme, the plates are at once highly erotic and lighthearted. True to character, Wegener’s compositions are highly developed, featuring carefully observed fashions and textiles, luxurious interiors and bold use of color. Each plate includes an image of Wegener’s trademark black mask lying in the foreground. Many plates enhanced with overpainting. 12 full page illustrations. In good condition.
