About the Item

Black Rose is a beautiful original black and white etching on paper, realized by the Italian artist Giacomo Porzano (1925-2006). Hand-signed, dated and numbered in Roman numerals by the artist in pencil on lower margin. Edition of 50 prints numbered in Arabic numerals plus 10 prints numbered in roman numerals plus some artist's proofs. In very good condition. With the unmistakable master's touch, the incredible finesse of the line, now very thin, now vibrant and intense, this contemporary artwork representing one of the best-known Porzano's subjects. Giacomo Porzano (Lerici, 1925 - Rome, 2006) Giacomo Porzano studied in Genoa, where he has lived for twenty years. Firstly he attended the Academy of Carrara and then the Faculty of Architecture in Florence. Since 1959, he has lived and worked mainly in Rome. He participated in the Rome Quadriennale in 1965, at the Venice Biennial in 1968 and was an internationally renowned artist. Among his favorite themes, in addition to the Ligurian landscapes of the beginning, we find portraits of friends, scenes of everyday life, common characters, all scrutinized with a sharp inquisitive eye. He has participated in national and international figurative art exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
