About the Item
Chiesa dedicata a Sant’Ignatio is a wonderful black and white etching on cream-colored paper realized in the second half of the XVII century by Giovanbattista Falda.
Signed on plate on the lower left margin "Giò Batta Falda dis. et fece". Title etched on plate at the center, with a urbanistic caption and a dedication to "Gio. Iacomo Rossi" on plate on the right corner of the lower margin. Artwork numbered on plate “21” on the lower right corner; it means that this sheet was part of a series.
Original title: Chiesa Dedicata a Sant’Ignazio de Pp. della Compagnia di Giesù nel Rione della Pigna.
In excellent conditions, except for the slightly wavy paper. An ivory-colored cardboard passepartout included (34 x 49 cm).
A beautiful urban view of Rome celebrating a jewel of Roman Baroque: the Church of Saint Ignazio. The print was realized with full blacks, precise lines, and sharp contrasts, to admire a disappearing view of the eternal city.
