About the Item

"L'Etendard De La Vigilance" is an original etching and serigraph by Joel Cazaux. The artist signed the piece lower right, and wrote the edition number 38/100 in the lower left, and the title lower center. It depicts an abstracted man running with an American flag. 11 3/4" x 9 1/2" art 22" x 18 3/4" frame Joel Cazaux combines the spontaneity of childhood and technical rigor to go to the heart of things in his etchings, linocuts and silkscreen prints. His creations are inspired by fine art and ancient civilizations; they explore the worlds of Africa, Egypt and the Aztecs, and create a universe, which combines human, animal and plant in a dreamlike atmosphere and loaded with symbolism. Born in 1940 in Dinard, France, Cazaux is proving himself to be a painter, engraver, sculptor, screen printer.... Joël Cazaux entered the Center of Graphic Arts Corvisart of Paris in 1955. A graduate of École Estienne, he continued his studies in the engraving workshop Hayter in Paris. Professor of Plastic Art, from 1969 to 2000, at the School of Architecture Paris Villemin (École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts), in addition, he has been a color consultant for ten years.
