A superb impression, on off-white wove paper, with full margins (1 3/4 to 2 1/4 inches), in excellent condition. Image size 4 7/8 x 7 inches; sheet size 8 3/4 x 11 1/2 inches. Matted to musuem standards, unframed. ABOUT THE ARTIST John DePol (1913–2004), one of America’s most prolific book illustrators, is widely recognized for his beautifully composed and technically precise work in wood engraving. He is illustrator of the Franklin keepsakes, honored by the New York Printer’s Wall of Fame, a member of the National Academy, and listed in Who’s Who in America. DePol’s work is represented in permanent collections of many libraries and museums in the United States and abroad including, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cincinnati Museum, New York Public Library, Library of Congress. “Certainly there exists no question as to his continuing success as an artist, The fruits of his remarkable skill have won for him broad acclaim and recognition.
