Rarely seen on market, this work of art - deliberately designed to look like a glossy poster - is hand signed and numbered from the limited edition of only 100 by legendary filmmaker, cult star and artist John Waters . Both sharply conceptual and hilariously funny, John Water’s “Visit Marfa” is a remarkable play upon the city of Marfa, Texas in which Donald Judd established his foundation - which was, by the way, later profiled by CBS News 60 Minutes by the late Morley Safer. Gracing ARTFORUM’s sought after cover in Summer 2004, this brilliant satirical work takes the form of a poster typically used to advertise a circus or carnival. Here, Waters casts the town of Marfa as a tourist spectacle equivalent to Coney Island or Disney World. "CARL ANDRE LOOK-A-LIKE CONTEST" or "WIN A DATE WITH JOHN CHAMBERLAIN." One by one, the central themes of Minimalism are turned upside down. In a cloud-like banner that reads “EAT FOOD ALL THE SAME COLOR,” the more dull aspects of Minimalism are interrogated, while a circle describing Marfa as “THE JONESTOWN OF MINIMALISM” calls to mind the 'spirituality' often associated with Minimalism.
This work is elegantly floated and framed in a playful navy blue colored wood frame under UV plexiglass.
Legendary artist and film-maker John Waters’ provocative works examine the themes of sexuality, race, class, gender, capitalism, and religion in photographs, prints, and sculptures. Waters has been making artwork since the early 1990s, and has exhibited widely at galleries such as American Fine Arts (New York, NY), Marianne Boesky (New York, NY), Gavin Brown’s Enterprise (New York, NY), Emmanuel Perrotin (Paris, France), and Gagosian Gallery (Los Angeles, CA). His first major museum retrospective opened at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in 2004, which traveled to The Orange County Museum of Art (Los Angeles, CA), the Warhol Museum (Pittsburgh, PA), and the Fotomuseum (Winterthur, Switzerland).

This iconic image was plastered on billboards declaring "Enough of Trump" throughout the United States. (see attached photos) - and it was even prominently featured in a segment on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show about artists against Trump. (see also attached screengrab). Here, Ed Ruscha has had EE-NUF of Trumpism and he decries White Supremacy, anti-Democracy, Fascism, pollution and the overturning of Roe vs. Wade. There's no subtlety in this imagery of a tattered and burned American flag...
