Scilla is a beautiful etching on cardboard, realized in 1971 by the Italian artist Giovanni Omiccioli (Rome, 1901-1975). Hand-signed in pencil on the lower right and dated. Numbered on the lower left, edition of 71/80 prints. In good conditions except for some foxing. This is really a portrait of a plane -- the Fairchild C-119. The words 'United States Air Force' on the side of the plane date it to 1947 or later, after the Air Force split from the Army. Japanese born, Fugi Nakamizo came to New York City in 1910. He studied at the Art Students League and Cooper Union, NYC, and also printmaking with Joseph Pennell.
