About the Item
One of America's great modernist innovators, Max Weber carved Figure, 1919-20, on the end piece of a wooden cigar box. This Cubist image is composed of a head and maybe even a cap.
It is always great to have work from the first decades of the twentieth century as this work is increasingly scarce, and this is especially true for lifetime impressions of Weber's prints.
The reference is Rubenstein 11; the edition is about 25. Figure is signed in pencil.
