Excerpted from the Peter Max Archives, With love for his country, Peter Max has painted 'Lady Liberty' since America's Bicentennial in 1976. Inspired by the way she was colorfully illuminated by the fireworks over New York Harbor, he has captured the firework's brilliant and beautiful frenzy of color reflecting off her classically sculpted face uniquely in each of his portraits ever since. In this striking and patriotic artwork, Max has created a rhythmic design of his iconic subjects - his most dynamic liberty portraits, his 'Flag with Heart' paintings and his full and sumptuous 'Two Hearts' painting. This remarkable artwork brilliantly reproduces the bold color and detail of the artist's energetic brushwork creating a gloriously powerful work.
PETER MAX (1937- ) Peter Max has achieved huge success and world-wide recognition for his artistic accomplishments as a multi-dimensional artist. From visionary Pop artist of the 1960s, to master of dynamic Neo Expressionism, his vibrant colors have become part of the fabric of contemporary American culture.
