About the Item
Sujets d’histoire et de Mythologie is an etching made by the French draftsman and engraver Philippe-Louis Parizeau (Paris, 1740 – 1801), also known for realizing the first prints au lavis, directly preceding the aquatint technique.
This etching, like many others of the artist’s production, reproduces a drawing by Louis-Félix de Larüe, who won the Prix de Rome in 1750 and attended the Accademia di San Luca in Rome in 1760. Together, the two artists realized some series of engravings like The Bacchanals, Children Toys, and Arabesques. At the bottom of this artwork, there are the two signatures of the artists and the date.
The artwork is in very good conditions.
