About the Item

Shinsen Kyoika gojunin isshu is a polychrome woodblock print, ink and color on paper, designed by the Japanese master and surimono artist, Ryuryukyo Shinsai (Edo, 1799-1829), in 1803. Excellent condition, except for minor aging signs, thinnings of paper and discolorations, this original print has preserved stil today its beauty and charme with vivid colors and the fluid and talented touch of one of pupil of Hokusai. A copy of the same specimen is preserved at teh National Museum of Asian Art and at the Gallery of Art and Arthur. M. Sackler Gallery in NY. Under cardboard passepartout.
