Jesus Christ is an original artwork realized by Sigmund Lipinsky in 1921.
Signed and dated in pencil on the lower right margin; numbered in pencil in Arab numerals on the lower left margin.
Dry-point on paper. Edition of 16 prints.
Passepartout included: 49 x 34 cm.
Image Dimensions: 18 x 10 cm
Good conditions except for a fold in the center of the sheet.
The artwork represents the standing figure of Jesus Christ who is standing on a globe. The decoration and the characteristics of the figure are realized in the typical art déco style. The figure of Jesus Christ is decorated by writings and wreaths.
Sigmund Lipinksy (Graudenz, 1873 - Rome, 1940) was a Deutch artist and painter. In 1887, his family moved to Berlin, where Sigmund attended the Royal Academy of Arts where he studied under the direction of Woldemar Friedrich, Josef Scheurenber, and Anton von Werner. In 1899, he won a scholarship in Rome. Between 1900 and 1902 he met and married Paula Klein, a German violinist. During the same year, he moved to Rome where he lived at Villa Strohl-Fern. During World War I, Lipinsky and his family moved to Monaco where the artist came in touch with the Neue Secession. For this reason, the artworks of this period present the typical characteristics of the Secession Style.
