About the Item

An amusing view of an academic wagging his finger in disapproval as a young lady in a rope seat is pulled up to a college dorm window by a group of revelling students. Thomas Rowlandson (English, 1756-1827) entered the School of the Royal Academy in London in 1772 and was admitted as a full member in 1775.
