No Woman neither Canvas is an original modern artwork realized in the first decades of the 19th Century.
Original colored Etching on paper.
A long inscription is present on the lower margin. On the upper side the number XXII is present.
Mint conditions.
Beautiful old paper engraving depicting a genre scene. In the center of the composition a man is showing an artwork to a man at the candlelight. A woman is also present. A long inscription on the lower margin describes the situation "Ne Donna ne Tela non guardare a lume di candela" (Trad. "Do not look at the candlelight women or artworks"). The work is part of a series of satirical engravings concerning the uses and customs of the century. In this case he is telling us that the owner of a library is not necessarily a cultured man.
