About the Item
Time discovers the Truth is an original modern artwork realized in the first decades of the 19th Century.
Original colored Etching on paper.
A long inscription is present on the lower margin. On the upper side the Roman number XXXVI is present.
Excellent conditions.
Excellent and refined old paper engraving depicting a genre scene. The scene is very simple but at the same time allegorical. On the right side, an elderly winged character is discovering a woman. The elderly man represents the Time while the woman represents the Truth. On the left side, however, a woman with sagging breasts covers her face so as not to look. On the lower side the following inscription: "Il Tempo scuopre la Verità" (Trad. "Time discovers the Truth"). The work is part of a series of satirical engravings concerning the uses and customs of that time.
