About the Item

Created for the Museum of Modern Art in 1970, this lithograph with original brush and three watercolor pads on Hahnemühle Copperplate paper is protected within a white plastic clam-shell case and was created by the artist in 1970. With the artist’s facsimile signature, recto, and from the edition of 22,500 measuring 10 ½ x 8 ½ in. (26.5 x 21.5 cm.), a catalogue raisonne of works produced by the publisher through 1970 is included. (Field 135, Gemini 276). (Created for the Museum of Modern Art's Technics and Creativity, included is the publisher’s accompanying catalogue raisonne with 364 illustrations (20 in color), and a text by Riva Castleman [then the Museum of Modern Art, NYC's Associate Curator of Prints. The two-colored lithograph with a collage invites you to collaborate with Jasper Johns in creating your own version of his Target alongside a facsimile of Johns' signature. Includes original foam padding and descriptive sheet).
