Flight into Egypt: plate no. 14. Watermark: Standing Kings with Star.
A fine, early proof impression of the rare 1st state (of two) before the number. This impression is typical of the “unprofessionally” printed impressions which were most probably printed by the artist himself. The rather “dryly” inked areas, the printer’s folds, the thinner paper than the normal edition, the watermark, the rough and unbeveled plate edges all are elements distinguishing the earliest trial proofs of this work.
