"Towards the end of the nineteenth century and at the beginning of the twentieth century, Anders Zorn became increasingly interested in the history and ancient traditions of his native town Mora and its wider cultural territories which at the time, as a result of industrialisation and urbanisation, were begining to disappear. In 1904, Anders Zorn purchased an ancient farmhouse which he moved to the parish of Gopsmor, situated by the river Dal, North-West of Mora. An early twentieth-century sugar-lift aquatint showing Zeus in the guise of a swan, reclining and cradling Lida in his wings while King Tyndareus ponders the mutability of human circumstance.
Born in Utica, New York, Arthur Davies attended the Chicago Academy of Design from 1879 to 1882. He furthered his studies at the Chicago Art Institute, before moving to New York City in 1885 where he studied at the Art Students League and Gotham Art Students League. In 1893, he made the first of many trips to Europe, visiting Holland, Paris, and London. He became an arch-exponent of Modernism and the central organizing figure of 1913's watershed Armory Show. Davies developed a style that combined visionary Symbolism with elements of Tonalism and Cubism.
Who Was Who in American Art describes him as an “…important but enigmatic Modernist whose work was poetic, mysterious, and visionary”. Davies was the recipient of many gold medals and prizes and juried awards and his work is held in the permanent collections of museums nationwide, including New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among others.

David Dellepiane, born in Genoa in 1866, arrived in France at the age of 9 and entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille in 1880.
He lived in Paris in 1890, at a time when modernstyle was becoming popular with Mucha's posters.
He worked in the capital under the direction of Jules Chéret who trained him in lithographic art.
It is Jean Bardou who creates around 1845 the brand of cigarette paper "J.B", which quickly became "JOB".
His son, Joseph Bardou, also created a cigarette paper workshop in 1849, with the brands Papier Bardou and Riz Bardou, and the signature "JH Bardou".
In the 1870s, part of the production was sent to Egypt, which is why one of the paper brands was given the name of the Nile, registered on May 13, 1887.
This product was launched by advertisements with images of sphinxes, pyramids, palm trees and the famous elephant which was redesigned by the poster artist Leonetto Cappiello in 1912.

Paul Emile Berthon ( 1872- 1909 ), was a French decorative artist.
He began studying painting in Villefranche. From 1893, he moved to Paris, where he attended the École normale d'enseignement du dessin. Among the courses taken at the time, those of the professor of decorative art Eugène Grasset had the greatest impact on him.
The first works of Paul Berthon (around 1896) show a style close to that of Grasset. By freeing himself from the style of his master, his own style develops based on a palette of autumnal pastels with sharp lines and contours.
