About the Item
Original vintage London Transport poster promoting travel by Green Line Coach featuring stunning artwork by the notable French Art Deco designer Jean Dupas (1882-1964) depicting men in smart suits and top hats riding on a horse drawn carriage in the countryside, the coachman holding up a whip and the man sitting behind him blowing on a horn, a lady running in the foreground with an estate and trees on the hills in the background, the LPTB logo with a poem and title caption below - "Thus off they went, and four-in-hand Dash'd briskly tow'rds the promis'd land." To-day in comfort by "Green Line" Coach. The London Passenger Transport Board LPTB (1933-1948) symbol designed by C W Bacon was replaced by the iconic London Underground roundel less than a year after its invention. Printed by Johnson, Riddle & Co. Ltd., London. Very good condition, creasing, minor staining, backed on linen.
