Original Jim Morrison headstone rubbing by Susanne Griffie (Printed on high-quality cotton paper. Each piece is hand-signed and numbered, and it comes with a certificate of authenticity from the artist. Hand signed on the lower right and numbered lower left.
The edition of 1200 is divided into 1100 limited editions and 100 artist proofs. They are signed and dated October 9, 2006. This limited edition print was created from an original rubbing of the headstone of James Douglas Morrison, lead singer and frontman for the 1960s rock band The Doors.
Jim Morrison was born on December 8, 1943, and died on July 3, 1971, in Paris, France. He was an American singer, songwriter, and poet who was the charismatic frontman of the California-based psychedelic rock group the Doors.
The Morrison family would later give Griffie their permission and blessing to print a limited edition of the rubbings. One of those JDM rubbing limited edition prints now adorns the wall, stage left at the Whisky a Go-Go on the Sunset Strip, where Jim, Ray, Robby, and John became “The Doors.”
The artist, Susanna Gayle Griffie (1959 – 2018). co-founder and former executive producer of both the Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards and the Phoenix Music Awards, served as the Los Angeles Music Awards executive producer.
