Bearing the inscription "Silence, l'ennemi guette vos confidences," which translates to "Silence, the enemy awaits your confidences," the poster serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of discretion and vigilance, particularly in times of conflict.
In the midst of World War II, the poster likely aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of indiscretion and loose talk. By urging individuals to maintain silence and refrain from sharing sensitive information, it sought to prevent inadvertent leaks that could compromise national security and endanger lives.
The imagery of the poster may feature elements symbolizing secrecy and caution, such as a figure with a finger to their lips or ears, signaling the need for silence and attentiveness. The use of bold typography and contrasting colors further emphasizes the urgency of the message, capturing the viewer's attention and reinforcing the gravity of the situation.
Through its thought-provoking message and visual impact, the poster aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and discipline among the public, urging them to exercise caution in their interactions and communications. By fostering a culture of discretion and awareness, it contributed to national efforts to safeguard vital information and protect the interests of the country during wartime.

Paul Colin
Paul Colin (French , 1892-1985) was a French artist widely recognized for his imaginatively configured art deco posters depicting many well known theatre performers in Paris in the 1920's and 1930's, such as Josephine Baker and modernist figures and nudes. He also specialized in theatre sets, book designs, and costume design. Influenced by Cubism and jazz, he often employed a collage-like methodology to his work, juxtaposing highly stylized figural compositions against geometrically overlapping objects. He was a student of Valin and Prouvre. He created performance posters that were highly stylized, for studio, arts and dance. He was awarded an inspiring graphic artist and had his own unique style as he embraced symbolism and an abstract style.

By Paul Colin
Located in PARIS, FR
This powerful original 1946 poster by renowned French graphic artist Paul Colin (1892–1985) was created in the aftermath of World War II for the Organisme National d’Aide aux Combattants under the high presidency of General de Gaulle.
