About

The Woman ta King Coffee, 1774 Woman taking Coffee Chalk manner etching and engraving printed in red, blue, black and gold leaf from four plates 282 x 232 mm.; 11 1/8 x 9 1/8 inches (image) Below image: L. Marin invenit 1774 Title: The Woman ta King Coffee Below title: To be sold at F. Vivares in great Newport Street London Reference: Herold 295 Regency to Empire, no. 65, pp. 201-203 Colorful Impressions, no. 31 Notes: A very fresh impression of this work, the first French print (along with Bonnet’s The Milk Woman) in which gold leaf was used. The presence of the full margins is rather unusual since the lower part, with its text, is usually trimmed. The English sub-title is charmingly incorrect.
