Clinker-built boats have always been a fascination of mine. I love their lines and shapes at low tide. These I came across on a coastal walk in Suffolk. The sun was setting and I tried to capture the effect of light on water.
Rob Barnes, artist, is available for sale online and in our art gallery at Wychwood Art. Rob Barnes studied painting and printmaking at Hull College of Art and London University in the early 1960s. He taught etching, screen-printing, lino and related surface printmaking at Keswick Hall College in Norfolk. He later moved to the University of East Anglia, Norwich where he continued teaching in the School of Education until 2006. Presently he divides his time between printmaking and his other passion, playing the violin in local orchestras and for choral performances. In 2017 he began making a small number of sterling silver jewellery pieces following a course at West Dean, Sussex. His artwork follows themes, such as light on water, or shadows in the landscape. Clean, modern depiction of glasses of water on books by Ellen Ezorsky (American, b. 1956). Three glasses of water are sitting atop a few stacked books. While this piece is executed in black and white, Ezorsky has achieved a wide tonal range between the shadows and highlights, bringing the scene to life. Of particular note is the way she has captured the reflections in the water and the light that the glasses cast on the surfaces below them.

Ellen Ezorsky (b. 1956) was born in New York City. After graduating from highschool in New Jersey, she attended State University of New York at Purchase before moving to California. In California, she attended Cabrillo College in 1977 and ’78 before spending two years at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Ezorsky then returned to the west coast to attend and graduate from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Studio Art. She then earned her MFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute. Since graduating, Ezorsky has exhibited extensively and her paintings have been acquired for many private collections across the country.

Blood Roses is a limited edition figurative print by Rosie Emerson. This piece is a hand painted charcoal and Bronze powder screen print on 300gsm Somerset Satin Printmaking Paper. The style of the work is evocative of the prohibition era.
Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions. Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and a painters palette to create one off pieces which aim to be simultaneously known and unknown; of this world and not. Her photography is inspired by both the drama of the baroque, and ethereal qualities of Pre Raphaelite works. Other important influences include late medieval and renaissance paintings, Japanese prints, and magical realist literature. Emerson’s work is widely collected and exhibited both in the UK as well as internationally, through galleries, art fairs and museums.
