About the Item
After Joan Miró, "Laurels Number One", Patinated Bronze Relief, After 1947 Engraving, Framed Titled Laurels Number One, this patinated bronze bas-relief was produced circa 1980 and is based on Miró’s 1947 engraving Femme et oiseau devant la lune ("Woman and Bird in Front of the Moon").
The piece beautifully distills the surrealist energy and lyrical abstraction that define Miró’s visual language. The bronze is signed in the plate and bears the artist’s stamp and title on the reverse. with its rich patina and sculptural texture, the relief captures the dynamic movement and poetic forms emblematic of Miró’s late work.
Measuring 8.5 x 11.2 x 1 cm, the bronze is mounted in an exceptional 20th-century frame with a deep textile-lined backing, adding both refinement and depth. The frame’s elegant composition enhances the three-dimensional quality of the piece, turning it into a striking object with rich surface interplay.
This is a sophisticated and rare collectible for admirers of postwar European modernism, surrealist sculpture, or the unique visual world of Joan Miró. Its balance of iconic imagery and finely crafted materials makes it a standout addition to any serious art collection.
