About the Item

Measuring 144 inches in height, this monumental suspended sculpture by Jacques Jarrige is shaped entirely from hand-hammered aluminum and conceived as a vertical gesture—at once responsive to gravity and released into motion. Jarrige envisioned a waterfall not as a literal image, but as an elemental presence: a column of reflective metal that gathers and channels ambient light and energy. Suspended from a single ceiling cable, the sculpture hovers just above the ground, rotating gently with the slightest movement of air. Its motion is slow, continuous, and nearly imperceptible, inviting viewers to pause, attune their senses, and enter into a quiet exchange with the work. The hammered aluminum surface bears the intimate record of the artist’s process—thousands of subtle, faceted indentations that catch and refract light. As the piece turns, this shifting play of highlight and shadow evokes the shimmering flow of water or the drift of air through space, intensifying both its presence and its meditative atmosphere. Like many of Jarrige’s kinetic sculptures, the work reads less as a fixed form than as an experience unfolding in time. Its fluid, intuitive line—drawn without a sketch and guided by the hand—seems still in the act of becoming. The downward sweep of its contours draws the gaze in a rhythmic flow, prompting a heightened awareness of breath, stillness, and subtle motion. At once ethereal and commanding, the sculpture inhabits a delicate tension between material and immaterial, form and formlessness. Slowly turning, it transforms its surroundings into a quiet sanctuary of movement, reflection, and light. Comes apart for transportation

Fluctuation - Large Organic Nature Inspired Modernist Abstract Sculpture
By Jacob Burmood
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This original sculpture is created in cold-cast aluminum, which interacts beautifully with its environment and reflects light in nuanced ways. Because of the reflective surface of aluminum, the sculpture takes on different appearances depending on the lighting conditions: In bright lighting, the sculpture appears more vibrant and silver-toned, showcasing its lustrous finish and fluid contours. The high contrast highlights every curve and swirl, giving it a striking, almost glowing presence. In softer or dimmer light, the tones become more muted and subtle. The sculpture takes on a pewter-like appearance, with deeper shadows and a more understated elegance. This makes it a perfect fit for a variety of settings, adapting to its surroundings and changing mood with the light. The sculpture’s color and finish are consistent; the perceived changes are purely the result of lighting. The color variations in the photos are a testament to the material’s responsiveness to light. If you’re placing it in a room with changing daylight or adjustable lighting, you’ll enjoy how it shifts throughout the day, almost like a living piece of art. Jacob Burmood creates undulating abstract cold cast aluminum sculptures, intuitively redefining aesthetic shapes and visual perceptions. His sculptures draw connections between nature-inspired, organically composed objects, rejecting the rigid structure of geometric abstraction in favor of harmonious compositions that seem to move before the eye. This original cold-cast aluminum sculpture is 26 inches tall by 12 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. "Ambient Flow, " Abstract Steel Sculpture
Located in Westport, CT
This mid-sized abstract contemporary sculpture by Joe Sorge is made with steel, orange dye, and wax. The warm-toned piece features a strip of steel metal that twists and turns in a flowing, spiraling movement. It casts unique shadows on its surroundings, which change in altering light. Please note that the white pedestal base pictured in the image gallery is not included. Connecticut-based sculptor Joe Sorge studied at the School of Visual Art (SVA) in New York City. While Joe's body of work is most often made with stainless steel which he sometimes dyes to give the forms bold, solid colors, he also experiments with stone carving, genesa crystals, tiger eye alabaster and others. He works with a variety of colors, finishes, and textures, to create the final piece. Joe's sculptures express the fluidity and tension inherent in the material he uses. His work draws on a modernist vocabulary to create abstract, often whimsical objects...
