Medium: Fabric
Abstract Head Sculpture: 'Untitled'
Located in New York, NY
The artistic collaboration of Kelly Bugden + Van Wifvat has produced a thought-provoking body of sculptures, paintings, and constructions. Nature, childhood memories, and everyday archetypes take shape in unexpected combinations of materials. The works emerged as the tactile and visual senses channeled the ritualistic power and materiality of selected artifacts. The resulting objects exist in a space between what they were originally and what they could become. A wheel, for example, is distorted as if seen through a prism. Their collaboration grew out of years of shaping materials into one-of-a-kind objects. Intuitively, the process of creating with their hands took an inward turn. Prism is a travelogue through memories and dreams, yielding abstract forms that capture moments of transformation. Van Wifvat grew up with eight siblings and studied sculpture and environmental design in Minneapolis at MCAD. In 1979, he opened a storefront art gallery to promote the work of local artists. The space featured printed materials—art books, periodicals, fanzines, and postcard’s. Wifvat moved to New York in 1983 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons. In 1987, he co-founded Van Gregory & Norton design studio, specializing in convex mirrors and curtain hardware...

Ragisména series. Set of 2 wall Sculpture White M5, Abstract
Located in Miami Beach, FL
The Ragisména series, which in Greek means cracked, has its materiality manifested through the desire to recreate and make feelings, memories and mythology tangible in the physical world. The works have their core connected to Dehlos, a ruined island bathed by the Aegean Sea, created by Poseidon, so that Leto could have his children Apollo and Artemis in a protected land. Known for being a sacred place, Dehlos was the most important Panhellenic sanctuary almost 3 thousand years ago. In an equation between mythology and abstraction, volumes, cracks, lights and shadows come together in matter. The Ragisména work in aluminum is the result of an artistic and artisanal process that dates back to antiquity, when people used fire to shape metal. Casting consists of heating the metal until it becomes liquid and then pouring it into a mold of the work. After cooling, the mold is removed and the piece is polished. In this way, the foundry immortalizes in matter the work conceived by the artist, giving life to his vision and expression Zampol uses different materials in his work, such as metal, paper, leather, plaster, and different types of pigments. His works reflect his personal experience, his worldview, and his research on human history, from ancient civilizations to the present day. From Ragisména Series Set of 2 wall Sculpture White...

Patricia Miranda, Florilegium Series, 2016, cochineal dyes, antique books, pearl
Located in Darien, CT
Patricia Miranda's work includes interdisciplinary installation, textile, paper and books. The textiles incorporated in these new pieces are vintage linens from her Italian and Irish grandmothers and sourced from friends and strangers around the country. Each donation is documented and integrated into the work. Textile as a form that wraps the body from cradle to grave. The role of lacemaking in the lives of women both economically and historically is packed with metaphorical potential. The relationship of craft and women’s work (re)appropriated by artists today to environmental and social issues is integral to the artist's research. Her work is process oriented; materials are submerged in natural dyes from oak gall wasp nests, cochineal insects, turmeric, indigo, and clay. She forages for raw materials, cook dyes, grind pigments, ecofeminist actions that consider environmental impacts of objects. The process is left visible as dyestuff is unfiltered in the vat and finished work. Sewn into larger works, Miranda incorporates hair, pearls, bone beads, Milagros, cast plaster. The distinct genetics and environmental and cultural history of each material asserts its voice as collaborator rather than medium. The lace inserts a visceral femininity into the pristine gallery, and exerts a ghostly trace of the history of domestic labor. The combination of earth and lace references human and environmental devastation and the conflation of nature and women’s bodies as justifications for exploitation. Mournful and solastalgic, they are lamentations to the violence against women and the earth. Patricia Miranda is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, educator, and founder of The Crit Lab, graduate-level critique seminars and Residency for artists, and MAPSpace project space. She has been Visiting Artist at Vermont Studio Center, the Heckscher Museum, and University of Utah; and been awarded residencies at I-Park, Weir Farm, Vermont Studio Center, and Julio Valdez Printmaking Studio. She received an Anonymous Was a Woman Covid19 Artist Relief Grant, an artist grant from ArtsWestchester/New York State Council on the Arts, and was part of a year-long NEA grant working with homeless youth. Miranda currently teaches graduate curatorial studies at Western Colorado University, and develops programs for K-12, museums, and institutions such as Franklin Furnace. Her work has been exhibited at ODETTA, NYC; ABC No Rio, NYC; Alexey von...

Scandinavian Abstract Wool Tapestry Rug Gun Gordillo Neon Electric Blue Color
Located in Surfside, FL
Gun Gordillo (Swedish, 1945-) Ege Axminster, Denmark. This had a velcro strip to be used as a wall hanging. It can also be laid on the floor. This is a tufted pile wool tapestry not a flat weave like an Aubusson. Perfect for a Memphis Milano 80's interior. Gun Gordillo was born in Lund, Sweden. Contemporary Scandinavian Artist. Her fluency with the material, which comes so natural to Gun Gordillo, makes her works unusually suited to function in many different context in a public milieu. Dolerite, lead, copper, and zinc plate in combination with contemporary fragile art materials such as glass, plexiglass and, above all, neon light makes her works stand out among those which have been created with light as the basic architecture of their artistic expression. There is a decidedly personal angle to her way of dealing with neon light which gives it a poetic dimension in marked contrast to the harsh stridency of advertising signs. Gordillo's work has been shown at several major solo exhibitions, most recently in 2015 at the famous French galerie denise rené, Paris. She has worked with the legendary gallerist Denise Rene for more then 30 years. She has also participated many group exhibitions including "The spirit of white" at Galerie Beyeler, Basel in 2004 and most recently "Néon, who's afraid of red, yellow and blue?" at la Maison Rouge, Paris in 2012. She has also been invited to create several major installations at world famous companies and public sites in cities like Basel, Paris, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Gordillo today lives and work in Copenhagen, Denmark after spending many years living and working in Paris, France. Her work straddles the lines of design and sculpture with her Neon and Fluorescent Light installations reminiscent of the California Light & Space artists such as Larry Bell, Robert Irwin, Bruce Nauman, James Turrell as well as Dan Flavin. Tapisserie d' Artiste. select group exhibitions 2021 galerie denise rené, paris, "Retour à la ligne" Artists included: Carlos Cruz-Diez, Geneviève Claisse, Gun Gordillo, Jesus-Rafael Soto, Julio Le Parc & others. galerie denise rené, Espace Marais Paris, "Esprit des couleurs" Artists included: Aurélie Nemours, Carlos Medina, Christian Megert, Darío Pérez...
