About the Item
Repurposed metal type was fused in the shape of a mask then cast in aluminum and polished to create a rich surface by artist Dale Dunning. The title of the work palimpsest refers to a surface on which original writing has been erased to make way for more writing but of which traces still remain. The work is a narrative of time and history. This work is 5 in an edition of 7, please allow 4 - 8 weeks upon completion before delivery.
Dale Dunning holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. While earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Mt. Allison University, NB, he studied under Lawren P. Harris (son of Group of Seven member, Lawren S. Harris) and George Tiessen. Dunning has exhibited across Canada and his work is held in private, corporate and public collections including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Robert McLaughlin Gallery, McIntosh Gallery at Western University, Carleton University Art Collection, and the National Library of Canada.
