Commissioned to create a life-sized reclining figure, John Denning made two maquettes during a stay in a medieval hamlet in France. In 2007 he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in Jiangxi Province.
