About the Item

“As a human being, there is always a moment or many moments for him or her to rethink the past and self. During this process, people will turn over, rearrange or rebuild their thoughts. Therefore, a new hope and idea is created. Life cannot move backward but forward. In my artwork, many different elements are matched or competed with each other. Interaction between elements is not made purposely but happened naturally instead. Each of my art represents my thoughts and visions in my current moment.” –Lei Lei Lei Lei was born in Chengdu, Sichuan. In 2012, he graduated from the Master‘s Department of Sculpture, Central Academy of Fine Arts. Lei Lei’s sculptures appeal to the artist‘s strong personality. He creates a beauty of silence with pure sculptural language. Buddha figures in caves inspired Lei Lei’s sculptures. His figure sculptures appeal to soft, quiet, and calm expressions on faces and sometimes show gentle gestures as well as Buddha figures in caves. However, Lei Lei develops more ideal, poetic, and mysterious phenomena for his figure sculptures. They look like they come from a utopia and they are in pursuit of peace and calm in the present moment. Some figures are with rocks, clouds, mountains, bamboo, birds, and canoes. Nature scenery and objects in Lei Lei‘s sculptures represent movements and dynamic activities that contrast with static gestures of human shapes. Lei Lei presents a dialogue between dynamic and static expression.

"The Top Dog", Porcelain Sculpture & Concrete Bench, Limited Edition, Hip hop
By Huang Yulong

Childhood is not just a transitional time before adulthood. It is a meaningful lifetime for children to create their wonderlands exclusively. It is also a time of utopia that we may have forgotten when we became an adult. When children play together, there has always been a leader to lead the rules of games among children. Such a kid is like a head sheep in a flock and a wolf leader of a pack, as well as a “Top dog...

Poetic Chinese Landscape inspired by Calligraphy, abstract and conceptual style
By Gao Yi

Tracing 寻迹 Gao Yi is inspired by the essence of the words instead of the visible form of it. He attempts to find different meanings and expressions between the details of every motion of the brush. One could clearly see the clean and decisive brushstrokes of Chinese calligraphy being absorbed into layers of paint, textures and forms. Following his expanded years in studying the knowledge of Chinese calligraphy art...
